As the blood begins to dry on the wall after the amazing season four finale of True Blood, the realization sets in that waiting sucks! For any True Blood fan, you know the off season is pretty long, almost 9 months long! Add in that season four won't be released on DVD till probably the end of May 2012 and you start to go into serious withdrawal. Of course you have the #waitingsuckscampaign, which sustains you with mere drops of blood compared to artery of entertainment you receive during the season but is there anything else to subside the fangover? Well nothing will replace True Blood because it is so unique but there are supernatural dramas out there that might help!

Although True Blood hasn't included zombies in the series (at least not yet!) if you don't mind the brain hungry, walking rotting flesh, you may be interested in the AMC series The Walking Dead. Season two premiers on October 16, 2011, on television network AMC. This show follows a group of people, specifically a police officer Rick Grimes, who has just woken up from a coma in the first season to find towns abandoned and the dead walking about. He searches for his family, son and wife, and finds them with a group of people. Now they have to try living but also surviving in world overflowing with the walking dead. I haven't caught up on the entire series yet but AMC television has become great over the past few years with series like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. The walking dead may not be at that same caliber but it sure is worth a view!

If you want to stick to vampires and drama there is definitely a show out for you. The Vampire Diaries, which began its third season on The CW on Thursday September 15th, follows the supernatural drama of a small town in Virgina. The show, although geared towards teens, has many of the same elements as True Blood, watered down of course. There is of course the vampire/human love story, witches, werewolves, and even some supernatural beings missing from True Blood like doppelgangers. The show has enough dramas and turns to keep you entertained during True Blood withdrawal, although you have to give up some of the more adult story linesand content associated with True Blood.

Another supernatural drama, which is actually new this fall is The Secret Circle, another CW show. This show is similar to The Vampire Diaries, actually follows the show in the line up and is produced by the same guy. This show premiered on Thursday September 15th and follows a group of witches (teenagers from specific families) in their discovery of powers and a history that they might not be ready to discover. Like The Vampire Diaries this show is geared towards teenagers and lacks the adult themes, plots, and content as True Blood but it may be worth the supernatural content...

Other shows that might interest your supernatural side include Supernatural on the CW, Ghost Hunters, and Ghost Hunters International.

Hi Brain,

I will have to check these shows out as well. The Secret Crcle reminded me of a Movie back in the 1990(s) Nev Campbell was in it as well. I can't remember the name but the others look promising. Although honestly I doubt they could ever replace True Blood for me. I m a died hard fan.

Hey Jt, i think the movie your talking about is The Craft, as for these shows, they're only suppose to offer some relief to True Blood, like you said nothing can replace it, especially after that amazing season finale! thanks for the comment
