How to get Traffic to your hub Fast!
75
When starting out at Hubpages, everyone dreams of instant traffic, every hub being a huge hit with readers across the web, making you rich! Well although I'm sure its possible for one lucky and talented writer but for the rest of us, its going to take a little time. However with that said there are ways to see fast traffic for you hubs. This quick increase in traffic is only temporary though, so if your looking for organic traffic, it will take a little longer. One of the key activities of getting fast traffic is promotion! Below I will list a number of ways to increase your traffic for any given day.
Existing Social Networking
One of the best places to start to get increased fast traffic is to use your already existing social networking sites. Put your hub up on Facebook and Twitter, use hashtags on twitter to reach beyond your followers. A Hashtag is any word in a tweet with a # sign directly in front of it, for example #hubpages. By using hashtags you can reach those members on twitter who have similar interest in the topic of the hub but yet do not follow you (also a great way to get new followers). Now its ok to create a twitter account just for promoting your hubs, however i don't recommend only tweeting about your hubs. You will end up with more followers and more traffic back to your hubs if people see you as human on Twitter and not just a possible robot spewing out links every day. So you will get more traffic if you buildup a decent list of followers before bombarding them with your links to your hubs. If you want to follow me on Twitter, I have two accounts, both listed on my hubpages profile page.
Blogs!
Another great location to get fast traffic are blogs. However like social networking sites it might be better to gain followers by commenting on other blogs and offering human like posts, not just links to your hubs. Some of the blogs i have used to promote my hubs are Blogger and Tumblr. The key is the blogs are specific, my tumblr blog Never say Nature is environmentally oriented. My google blogger blog BWD316 is focused on my writings here at hubpages but also photography, so i have some interesting photos mixed in wiht my links to my hubs. Once again your results will be better if you have more followers just like on hubpages!
Bookmarking Sites
Another way to increase traffic is to use various social bookmarking sites. These sites allow you to contribute the link to your hub on their sites, where people can view it and share it. These sites include Stumbleupon and Digg. Once agian you can follow people on these sites and that will help with creating instant traffic. I have had more luck with Stumbleupon, which is great because it literally allows people to stumble onto your hubpages, which means you are reaching people you would never be able to reach on your own. I believe i would have better luck in Digg, where you vote up articles with diggs, if i had more followers on that site. My digg profile is bwd316if you want ot follow me, i'll follow you back! or follow me on stumbleupon under the name brian31687!
Conclusion
So the key to getting fast traffic is promotion and networking. If you use these various sites (more followers the better) you will see a spike in traffic right away. Remember its nice to get a boost in traffic every once in a while but also that increase in traffic may lead to new readers that come back time and time again, loyalty is great for online writers! Ultimately you still want to get long term traffic and all these suggestion also work towards that goal. When using these sites you are creating back-links and a presence online, which will help in your ranking on Google. I hope these suggestions help and would love to hear about some results or any other suggestions as well!

I "stumbled upon" Stumble a couple of weeks ago and found it did give me a boost in traffic. Have yet to try Digg.
I have often read on hubpages blog that sharing your hubs indiscriminately on your facebook or twitter is often harmful because it is considered overtly promotional. Sharing in your personal blog is good but we have to be careful not to post the entire content because it is against user agreement. But writing a summary of the hub and giving link is very beneficial but finding genuine readers is usually most difficult part in the blogging world.
very informative, I appreciate the warnings too. Up and useful. Thank you.
Great information you've got over here. Thanks for sharing.
Useful information. The one avenue I haven't tried yet is Twitter. I am worried about spending more time trying to promote my hubs, and although Twitter appears to be powerful, I'm not sure if I have the time to build a following there. But for people with big followings, it's a great way to promote their writings.
Another place to post hubs is on Redgage.com. They pay you for page views (a very small amount, like less than one tenth of one cent). What you provide on Redgage is just a summary and a link to your hubs, so you can drive traffic to your hubs, if people find the tease interesting. I have found StumbleUpon.com to be useful too. I get some hits from that site after posting my hubs there.
Thanks for the info. I have gone from someone that rarely put anything 'out there' to wanting to join every blog sight in existence (not really but almost).
Voted up and useful! Thanks for sharing knowledge on using hash tags on Twitter, which was news to me! I also read your entire article, word for word, and really appreciate you providing this information.

Thanks a lot , this topic has been really nice for me since i have recently joined hubpages. Great to read such hubs from senior members like you !
Yes i totally agree with you BWD316. Hubpages is a very warm and nice community , i would say like a closely knit family. Thanks for your kind words
Great Info! Thanks :)
THANK YOU FOR THIS USEFUL INFORMATION
This advice really does work. I am pleasantly surprised at the amount of reads I get from Stumbleupon etc. Quite amazing considering I just post there and don't really interact much on them.
I have been posting my hubs on twitter with no hashtag - great advice that I am going to enact now. Thanks for this! Voted up and useful
Hashtag thats a new idea which i don't think that everyone knows. Nice good advice
