Marley's Winter Wonderland: Photos of my dog in the Snow
Marley is my dog, he is a five year old yellow lab but acts like he's two. Marley is definitely a character, I truly believe he thinks he is a human. Marley loves to stay nice and toasty inside, preferring a couch and bed over the floor. Many nights i awake to find his head on my pillow next to mine or to find that he has wrapped himself under one of my blankets. Since he enjoys the warmth and to cuddle, it has always surprised me that he loves Snow! Maybe he just takes after his owner, I do consider myself to be a weather geek. After any snow storm the first thing Marley does is stick his nose in it, it's quite comical. It's also hard to get him when he's out playing in the snow, he loves to catch snowballs, roll around in the snow and run around. Many may disagree with me but when Marley's running around outside in the snow or swimming (his other favorite activity) his personality is amplified and you can see pure happiness in his eyes.
So below are a number of photos I took of Marley from January 2011. Marley isn't a large dog but he isn't a small one either and the amount of snow we received last winter was historic! In many of the pictures you will notice that the snow is pretty deep on Marley and he loved every minute of it! The first photo to the right is Marley climbing over a snow bank on our lower deck, it reminds me of a mountain climber or explorer traversing the frozen landscape, curiosity on his face. The first photo below is Marley waiting in the snow for his cousin (my cousin's dog) to come out and play. Below that are two photos of Marley just chilling out in the snow, like I said before he loves to cuddle inside but put snow down and he'll role around in it. Below that are three photos under the heading "He likes to Play too!" which show Marley running around in the snow. The first is of him jumping out of the snow towards me, I laugh every time i see this photo, his ears flopped open, his facial expression, to me it's priceless. Below that are two more photos of him jumping through the snow and is a true testament to how deep the snow got last January. The next section of photos is priceless. After one of the storms I decided to make a snow dog instead of a snowman. After I was done I introduced the frozen statue to Marley and as you can see the three pictures, his reaction was very comical. At first he just looked at it, then curiosity got the best of him and he investigated. It's almost as if he realized it was snow and looked back at me in that last photo saying "hey look at this". The final photo is one I took of myself and Marley out in the snow. I love that he has a little bit of snow on his face! Marley is a great dog, with a lot of spunk and character.
